# How do I make a PDF of an entire website? — DocFind

**A browser's Save as PDF captures one page, the one you are looking at. To turn a whole site into a PDF you need a tool that follows the site's links for you, and the one we found documented by its maker is Adobe Acrobat on desktop, whose web-page converter has a "Get entire site" option.** Below are the single-page routes in Chrome and on iPhone, then Adobe's multi-page one, and the settings that stop it pulling in half the internet.

## One page at a time: Chrome
On a computer, Google's print steps are to open the page, click File, then Print, or press Ctrl + p on Windows and Linux or ⌘ + p on a Mac, and then "select the destination and change your preferred print settings"; its instructions for keeping a copy include "Click Save as PDF". On Android the route runs through sharing: tap More, then Share, "Select Print", and "To save your print preview as a PDF, tap Save as PDF", then "Choose where to save the PDF file on your device" ([*Print from Chrome*, Computer](https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/1069693?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DDesktop) and [*Print from Chrome*, Android](https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/1069693?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid), Google Chrome Help, both read 3 October 2026). Repeat per page and you have a pile of separate files, which is fine for five pages and hopeless for five hundred.

## One page at a time: iPhone
Apple documents two routes. In Safari, go to the page, tap the Page Menu button, then Share, then "Tap Markup", and finish with "Save File To" to store the page as a PDF ([*Annotate and save a webpage as a PDF in Safari on iPhone*](https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/annotate-and-save-a-webpage-as-a-pdf-iphfd5b616b5/ios), read 3 October 2026). Or take a screenshot and tap the thumbnail, where "Full Page" will "Capture content beyond your iPhone screen", and Apple's example is that "you can capture an entire webpage in Safari" ([*Take a screenshot on iPhone*](https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/take-a-screenshot-iphc872c0115/ios), read 3 October 2026). "Entire webpage" there means the whole length of one page, not every page on the site.

## The whole site: Acrobat on desktop
Adobe's page says its browser extension converts "an open web page", while "Acrobat on desktop provides more control, such as converting entire websites, setting page levels, and adding pages to existing PDFs." The steps: open Acrobat, select Create, choose Web page, enter the address, then "select the Capture multiple levels checkbox" and choose either "Get level(s)" with a number, or "Get entire site to include all levels of the website" ([*Convert web pages to PDFs in Acrobat on desktop*, Adobe](https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/desktop/create-documents/create-pdfs/web-pages-to-pdfs.html), read 3 October 2026). That page is written for Acrobat on desktop and does not say whether the free Acrobat Reader includes the converter, so check your own menus before you plan around it.

## Keep the crawl on a leash
The same Adobe page offers two limits, and both are worth ticking: "Stay on same path" includes "only pages under the specified URL", and "Stay on same server" "Excludes external domains". Our advice, not Adobe's: start with one or two levels rather than the entire site. A level is every page linked from the pages before it, so the count grows fast, and a first run tells you how big and how long the result will be before you commit to everything. Also look first for an official download: many manuals and handbooks already offer a single PDF that will be cleaner than any capture, and some sites' terms limit copying.

## Once you have it
A captured site can run to hundreds of pages, so the next job is finding things in it. Every PDF viewer has a find function for that; [how to search one PDF](https://docfindapp.com/answers/search-for-a-word-in-a-pdf), and [how to merge](https://docfindapp.com/answers/put-multiple-pdfs-together) if you captured the site in pieces.
